Quebec? Si!

I was so lucky to go on a trip with my mom and sisters this July to Quebec. Quebec is really, really old, and very pretty. And, people speak french there. Because of the break-neck speed of our summer I didn't do a lick of research before hopping on the plane to go there - and I was totally taken aback (and delighted by!) the frenchi-ness of the city. All the french being spoken unleashed the motley barrage of high school french I have carefully tucked away in my little brain - but unfortunately not before I answered si a couple of times to some horrified shop-keepers. Ah, american me.

  1. I once travelled to Quebec (tremendously gorgeous, I agree) and tried to rely upon the french I'd been forced to acquire in grade school. I ended up ordering liver instead of beef - ick!

  4. Ahhhh, those photos make me very nostalgic. After 3 months backpacking around Europe we had been in Canada for 6 months and when my friend and I got to old Quebec we felt like we had been transported right back to Europe. We plonked ourselves down and stayed a week. Never even ventured outside the walls of the old town! Terrible, I know, but we loved every bol au chocolat and vin blanc!

  7. The city is amazing and, more than that, it has its unique history and architecture. Thank you for gibing an insight into its life. I've been looking for some live stories about it, as it can help me be quite objective in my review.
