Katie's serenity

** Katie's paint information -- (she is a master of the paint counter! I didn't know you could do this):
Living room - Benjamin Moore eggshell medium base. The formula is OY x261/2 Bk 26 MA 10 GY 12
The guest room is eggshell pastel base OY 3/4 BK 4 BB 1 MA 1/8**

Lynne's sister (and my sister-in-law) Katie has the most beautiful, serene house. There is no visual clutter. Each room is decorated in soothing colors. All the windows are covered with simple linen curtains that allow the light to softly diffuse into the house. Every surface, every corner is soft, muted and visually calming. When I visit her house I feel so peaceful (except for my three wild children running around!) With such an overstimulating world, it's wonderful to have a peaceful, quiet refuge.

katie's house IS pure serenity. It is the most calming place ever. And she is my paint-color guru. Love you!

It is hard to believe that people live there! That is what I want my house to look like but I have way too much stuff. It is really beautiful. I am off to get rid of some stuff now!

Her rooms are beautiful and serene,I tried this style of decorating, loving how it looks, but found it wasn't me(does that mean I am a chaotic person?!)Now-talk about visual clutter!-I am painting an entire patchwork wall!

Hi-
I ended up on your blog via a long chain of clicking, and wondered if you'd be willing to share the paint colors in the pics? I'm repainting parts of my house and love the top two colors.
Thanks!

As they sung it so well; 'all I want is a room somewhere, far away from the cold night air, with one enormous chair, oh wouldn't it be lovely!' Gorgeous house.

Oh how wonderful. I ask myself: How does it work???? with no mess in the edges, with no clutters everywhere... I AM JEALOUS of the tidyness of these people!!! ;)

'Serene' is the word I think of when I think of Katie's too. And, more incredibly, it really is always is this neat and organized!
Great photos!

veryyy serene. Nice.
But I'm fine with a little living clutter (the kind that moves with people from room to room - books, shoes, some toys, glass of water). Wouldn't want to feel like my house was a magazine picture!

My apartment looks like that for about 30 seconds after I clean it.

I love peaceful surroundings! I feel like you justified my love of simple decorating! Sometimes I feel like if I don't fill the room with things then people think I don't know what I'm doing. Thank You for pointing out that simplicity is absolutely beautiful too!

I just discovered your lovely blog via Mackink. Serenity is what I aspire to. Entirely elusive. Never could manage. But I like to dream...

Wow! Someone really lives there?!! It looks like it was taken straight from a magazine!

Beautiful rooms! I too would love my house to be this uncluttered. My husband would love it even more!

What would it be like? I'm to the point of trying to convince myself that clutter is a decorating tactic.
Katie must be an all-around soothing person, because I've always thought her voice was so calming. Great pictures.

So lovely! My house has pretty much the same colors in it too! I also do not like clutter. But I do need some pictures to hang....I have the hardest time picking something to live with on the wall!

Please tell me where Katie got those beautiful window treatments in her sitting room. They are beautiful and seem to just wash the room in light. I have recently dressed my windows with pretty heavy curtains and am realizing that I need more light. I'm feeling a bit of some seasonal depression.

I love the idea of it... but where does she DO stuff? My house is covered with the stuff I do. I wish my house looked like that, but I'm afraid I'd be bored out of my mind because all of my inspiration would be shoved behind sofas and under armoires...
