the bed's made!

Sometimes my friends ask how I'm able to do all that I do while watching three little kids. Here's my big, dark secret: I don't make my bed!

I simply can't do it all! Though I did manage to pick my room up and make the bed for this photo. I like how it looks this way. Maybe I could just frame this photo and rest it on the tall pile of books next to my bed. Then when I fall into bed at night after a long day of creating and chasing after the three little ones, I can glance over at this photo, and smile, imagining the luxury of sleeping in such a serene room with a nice made bed!

P.S. this is the treetops room: with a little bird motif moving from the painting, to the curtains, to the tree branch decked with family photos.

P.S.S. yes I do wash the sheets, every week. Though I am still hoping for a servant to do this. Lynne, I'm waiting for a servitude dress for my girl; please give it a high brainwashing factor.

I just found your blog yesterday...needless to say I'm in complete AWE!! I love everything about it. I don't sew (but I would LOVE to begin I just don't know where), have little time for crafting, only a little boy on the way...and well, I often don't make my bed either...

I love the simple elegance of your bedroom! And i love birds too so this is just perfect. I developed a habit of making the bed quickly right after I come out of the bathroom from showering and before dressing. I don't know why...maybe it's from Girl Scouts and the fear of bugs getting in the sheets!!! (not that I have bugs in the house!) I just like a made bed. Now, I also have a huge pile of books I'm reading next to it... clutter is a different story! Thanks for your enthusiam about my new project! I am SO excited that you're going to participate!!!

Aaah! Melissa!! Your room is SO gorgeous!!! I love everything about it - the curtains, especially, are amazing how you layered the two fabrics. That bird fabric is so pretty. I love, love, love it!!!

Oh my, this is my dream bedroom; so pure and simple and clean. The bird painting is lovely; did you do it? And I'm totally stealing the branch-as-photo-hanger idea. Love!

I love when all the beds are made in our house!

Your new headboard is lovely.

I also love that you want a servant - not a nanny or a housekeeper.

love the painting + the curtains + the branch...love it all.

especially love how simple and spare the space is...that (in my humble opinion) is the best way to keep a space looking neat, even when you don't make the bed!

beautiful.

A room in the eaves, with boards on the walls and ceiling. Perfection.(did you see your stair project was up on Designmom?)

I make my bed when we are going to have company. I know I should everyday, but if I skip it, I can cuddle in bed for 5 more minutes.

What a GORGEOUS bedroom. It makes me want to crawl into the big comfy bed, flip open a book and gaze at the bird motifs as I take sips from a glass of wine...

Making the bed is over-rated and even with tangled blankets I'm sure the room is stunning.

What a serene scene!

Yes I painted the painting. And the walls are original to our 1939 house. Though apparently they used to all be dark brown, making quite a dark little room.

I rarely make my bed, but I find that when i do..it makes my room seem all the more special. if i did it everyday it wouldn't feel like that haha

I only make my bed when I absolutely have to. I just don't see the point. And guess what a hypocrite I am...I just added "make bed" to my kids chore list. Horrible!

i have to confess, my bed is never, ever made.. as you say, to much else to do..
but i insist on my kids making their beds..maybe i need one of those servitude outfits for my boys , then they could make my bed to!
love

Ah-ha! That's the secret! Well, I don't make my bed, maybe I should be getting more done?

I'm a bedmaker! I try to imulate my grandmother who made perfect beds with crisp, white sheets (line dried, of course). I like the spareness in this room, and the low windows and painted wall paneling. A bedroom should be a peaceful place to retreat to at the end of the day.

Love that painting... so lovely! I get things done by not putting away clean laundry!!!

Funnily enough, making my bed is the one thing I do achieve each day, but there are many other neglected areas....

Your room is lovely, I love the little bird motif.
