Homemade Holiday Gift Idea #2

Remember Melissa's Woodland Cap from last winter? The pattern is now published in Stitch Magazine's first edition. Congratulations, Melissa! I am so proud of you, and I can't wait to try this. I've been dying for this to come out - they don't have it at my B&N yet so I'm going to order it online here. Along with directions for this adorable hat, there are also patterns for loads of other wonderful things (beautiful skirt patterns from Wiksten and Uniform studio are two others I know of)...

Hooray Melissa! If I was in New Jersey today I would bake you a big cake with tons of frosting flowers all over it.

That's very very cool.

Since Stitch appears to be a sewing magazine, does that mean the hat is sewn from knitted fabric? Or is it all knitted by hand?

btw - lynne, if you haven't ordered yours yet, pick one up for me too and we can split shipping. (i can't believe shipping is AS MUCH as the magazine!)

Thanks Lynne for your kind words! The pattern is for a sewn felted wool cap. I'll show some more photo ideas in the next few days...

Congratulations to Melisa for her achievement. I love the hat. It is too bad that I don't have a baby that can wear it:(

It looks like something I could perhaps make from an old felted sweater? Very darling, in any case.

Jo Ann's has them also. I just got mine while picking up that extra yard of fabric that I needed for my current project.

That's a wonderful hat! Almost makes me want another baby just so I can make one (not that I really need any excuse) as I don't really know anyone with such a small one.

I was actually at Wal-Mart picking up some things and they had Stitch there on their magazine stand. Hope that helps some of you!

Love that hat! You can find the magazine at Joann's too! Just saw it there last night!

Melissa you are so modest. You didn't even mention this when I talked to you. Congrats! It looks great. I am even prouder that I have an original in my hat box! Hopefully it will still fit this season!

I picked it up today and it's wonderful...
I am having a little/big problem understanding step 4, and was wondering If you could help.
I feel really embarrassed even to ask being a sewing teacher and all...
Maybe it's just a typo maybe it's my brain, but I just can't get it straight.
Please help, I have a little one with cold hears ;)
