Don't you love finding things like this around your house? That's right, child #2. Mom is Lynne.
I found my old re-furbished first digital camera (1.3 mega pixels) in the back of a cupboard the other day. I like the way the black and white pictures look on it, so I used it to take a few shots around the house. And it ran out of the (new) batteries I'd put in it after only 20 pictures. Ah, the good old days of digital photography. Incidentally, have any of you discovered Hattie Big Sky? It's a great little book. ... what are your January reads?

I think that takes pretty good pics!
Have you read HOME by Marilynn Robinson? It's heartbreaking and beautiful--all about family and spiritual struggle. Don't read it, though, if you don't want to cry.
hmm... sometimes a good crying book is just the thing. especially for winter.
oh that sign is perfection.
i just finished loving frank...it was a doozy.
Delurking here...
Diving Bell and the Butterfly is a MUST read!
I'm reading The 13th Tale and LOVE it!
carol
funny, my girls are into the same sort of thing too, always asking about our "other" names. which brings me to coraline and the graveyard book, both by neil gaiman. read them, but also listen to them read by the author...so very excellent! i'm almost afraid to go and see the movie, coraline, as i am not sure how it will hold a candle to my love for the book
I like The History of Philosophy by Will Durant. It's a great bathroom read, as it is dense and better read in little snippets.
I love your black and white photos!!! And the little note about you! I miss that age so much!!! I have a pile of Lisbeth Zwerger's books (5 to be exact) on my drawing table right now, just because of you two! I love them! So I will have to look up this book too. Hope you're having a fabulous day! ;)
Ha! I find notes like that everywhere. And I LOVE Hattie Big Sky!!
I also love Hattie Big Sky. I read it over the summer and suggested it to a few girls I know. On a smiliar note, I'm reading Made from Scratch, Discovering the Pleasures of a Handmade Life by Jeanna Woginrich. It is non-fiction so not like the other fiction books recommended but a great place to start thinking about homesteading techniques.
I was happy to see your collection of books. And great black and white photo.
Lovely black and white. I really love bw photos. I wish I had time to read more. I rather gave up reading anything other than craft books and health books when I had kids. I just get too wrapped up in novels if I read them and would then tend to decide that finding out how it ended was far more important than say making dinner... I know I will get back to reading later when my kids are bigger.

I'm reading Ruth Reichl right now - she includes recipes which I LOVE and is just a great storyteller too.
I remember that digital camera - I thought it was the most amazing thing at the time. That sign is so adorable - I love child #2. As far as reading I am still finishing my book club book from last month ('A Tree Grows in Brooklyn) but I can send you our book club list. I think the next read is 'The Book Theif'.
BTW Thanks for the medical advice - I am sure you are always getting phone calls about sick kids - I think the antibacterial cream worked.
How cute is that note!
As far as reading... ha, the truth is that I've been reading Sherman's Lagoon before going to bed lately =)
Loved that book! You should put a plug in for goodreads! I am still struggling with The Preincess Academy. Hope it can catch me soon! :)

I am a bit of a latecomer...just now discovering your lovely blog! But it quickly became a favorite. Very amusing and charming - especially your 5 year old's prayer!
Oh, and I'm reading The Mermaid Chair (by Sue Monk Kidd). I loved reading Secret Life of Bees, so I thought I'd give it a go!
Just finished "The Robe" by Lloyd C. Douglas--great book to get you thinking. Also read "Hidden Places" by Lynn Austin and enjoyed that too. Both were somewhat deep, but loved the messages.
I just finished "Beach Music" by Pat Conroy and I'm now reading "Engleby" by Sebastian Faulks. I'm always looking for a good book, so I'll have to check out "Hattie Big Sky."
I'm reading Love and Logic- hoping for some ideas. I know, it's the wrong genre!
Beth - I TOTALLY need to read love & logic - that's been on my list for awhile. is it helping????
and - Beach Music! That's my book group's Feb. read! did you like it?
I love those little notes! The one taped to my wall right now says "To Mommy (heart) Love Lauren Momm Yor the Qieen. I love you sow and sow much"
*sigh*
January reads are Pinkalicious (for the five and younger set) and Wally Lamb's "The Hour I First Believed."
Just read "Things I've Been Silent About" by Azar Nafisi and it was so interesting, learning about Iran and its history/culture. I read it so that I'd have some kind of background before reading "Reading Lolita in Tehran". That's next! "Three Cups of Tea" is fabulous too.
LOVE your sewing patterns, by the way. I'll have to buy the frock pattern to create one for my daughter - it is ADORABLE!! Can you enlarge it to my size?? :)
