I love Valentine's Day! Mainly because I love candy (I'm like Will Ferrell in Elf). I try to think of cute valentine's day card ideas that go along with the kind of candy that I most feel like eating at the grocery store. This year: swedish fish.
The kids covered some paper in watercolor, on which I then printed
"I have a fishy feeling about you."
(This is a good, non-committal valentine's day message, which is a definite requirement when a ten year old boy is in any way involved.)
Cut the paper into little card sizes, then the kids stuck them in envelopes
and filled them with candy.
Delicious.

Darling!
Love it!
What a great idea! And now I really, really want swedish fish.
I adore this idea! Definitely saving it for the future! (My son is only 4, and we're using glow sticks this year.)
Awesome idea! That is so clever. I would never be able to pull that one off the top of my head. I, on the other hand, would just buy the snack size bags of swedish fish and send my kids off to school for Valentines.
I love the snack sized bags! :)
Lynne, you never cease to amaze me with your endless imagination.
I love this!!! This would be perfect for my kids' age!
Best valentine idea I've seen in a long time! Definitely one that my skeptic husband would approve of :)
What a great idea. I never thought of painting the paper and printing on it. Where did you find the envelopes?
Do schools still let you bring in homemade goodies, not indiviudally pre-packaged? I wish ours would.
This is definitely going to inspire me to make my own valentines this year. Thanks for the darling suggestion!
Lauren - I got the little glassine envelopes at the paper source (I love that place!)
So cute! My kids have been asking for syrup to put on their spaghetti since watching Elf this past holiday - :)
How cute! I'm glad you didn't have on the cards "I'm getting a fishy smell from you" as that would just be too cruel really. ;) hehe.
(BTW, I'm still reading W&P and didn't read your recent post about it because I'm still so far behind. ho hum.)
love!
I was just alerted of your blog. Hallelujah! This V-day idea of yours rules the school! (ha ha?)
