old fashioned kind of fun
Hello today. I am so, so glad it is Friday. It's great fun to go on vacation, but not so much, catching up on everything you've left behind. Hey, look - I found this typewriter on ebay for $9.50. Isn't it neat? The kids are FASCINATED by a machine that doesn't even need to be plugged in. Now we just need to get it to work. Have a great weekend, everyone.

oooh i love that lynne. i was just telling audrey a story about when i was a little girl (she insists on knowing every detail of bryan's and my childhood lately) and how i loved writing little stories on my typewriter. to which she promptly replied, "what's a typewriter"...eeek.
i need to find one too... i think she'd totally dig it.
happy friday.
love the typewriter. i have my grandpa's old one that looks very similar. loved it as a kid!
fun, fun...
That is such a beauty, Lynne. I hope you'll be able to make it work without too much trouble. Is your ribbon dry?
score!!
nice typewriter. i have several and can't help but acquire more. hope you enjoy yours. but actually using them... tough on the fingers. mine [fingers] are too used to the ease of the pc keyboard and go very weak when forced to punch those keys will all my might.
Way cool. I still remember my old one.
I love typewriters. I remember playing with one at my grandmothers. It was so cool to watch the arms move! Lucky children.
Welcome home my friend. Enjoy the catching up...especially with the kids
You just reminded me of how much I always loved typing on ours when I was a little girl! There is something about that tapping and then the bell, that makes you want to go on forever!!
yes, it is truly all about that bell! every time it makes me excited.
That's a great purchase! I love the case, especially. It makes it so portable :) We had two typewriters around the house when I was young. One was...boy, I think my grandpa's and was purely hand-driven. The other was a little more modern, as it belonged to my mom in college. It was the size and weight of an anvil. We had some great times with those machines. And now your kids can have some fun with this new machine.
I love your new typewriter. I remember my typewriter in college and the clicking sound as I wrote. While I love the ease of a computer I miss the clicking. Nice that your kids will know what a non plug in typewriter is. We just got back from vacation too...I hate reentry into my life and all the unfinished business everywhere I turn, nice to read your post and realize others are in the same boat.
What a great find! Speaking of machines without plugs, I bought an old Paymaster (they were used by businesses to put sums on checks I think) and my kids love printing all sorts of numbers onto paper with it.
I had a Royal typewriter in High School that had the lead glass windows in the side so you could see the workings.
In a fit of de-cluttering I sold it to an antique store.
I still miss it sometimes.
